Gayal
Gayal Hunting in Texas
The gayal, a domesticated descendant of the gaur, is known for its lighter, glossy black or brown coat and shorter stature. Native to the hilly forests of Northeast India and Myanmar, the gayal thrives in semi-wild environments. Both males and females grow thick, curved horns, with male horns averaging between 16 and 20 inches in length.
Gayal stand between 4 and 5 feet tall at the shoulder and weigh between 800 and 1,300 lbs. Their docile nature and unique appearance make them a fascinating addition to the diverse species available for hunting at Ranger Ridge.
