Arabian Oryx

Arabian Oryx Hunting in Texas

The Arabian oryx, also known as the white oryx, is native to the Arabian Peninsula and is a striking member of the antelope family. It is smaller than the closely related scimitar oryx, with shoulder heights ranging from 34 to 39 inches and body weights of 130 to 175 lbs. Both males and females grow long, straight horns that can reach up to 30 inches in length.

Known for their white coats that reflect sunlight and help them tolerate high desert temperatures, Arabian oryx are highly adapted to arid environments. Their hooves are also specially designed for walking on sandy terrain. While they were once extinct in the wild, successful conservation programs have allowed them to thrive in reserves and private game ranches like Ranger Ridge.
