Red Lechwe
Red Lechwe Hunting in Texas
The red lechwe is a semi-aquatic antelope native to the wetlands and floodplains of Southern Africa. Known for their reddish-brown coats, which darken with age, lechwes also have striking white patches on their bellies and legs. Males grow long, ridged, lyre-shaped horns that curve backward and upward, reaching up to 36 inches in length.
Adapted to marshy environments, red lechwe have water-resistant fur and elongated hooves that help them move through muddy terrain. They typically weigh between 180 and 260 lbs., with males being larger than females. Their distinctive appearance and unique behaviors make them a prized addition to hunting experiences at Ranger Ridge
