Japanese Sika Deer

Japanese Sika Deer Hunting in Texas

The Japanese sika deer, also known as the northern sika, is a graceful and adaptable species native to Japan, China, and parts of Eastern Asia. Sika deer are known for their reddish-brown summer coats with white spots, which turn darker and less distinct in winter. Males, or stags, grow antlers with three to four tines that can reach up to 28 inches in length.

Japanese sika deer are smaller than other deer species, with males weighing between 130 and 175 lbs. and females ranging from 90 to 130 lbs. Their ability to adapt to a variety of habitats and their unique antlers make them a popular addition to Ranger Ridge's hunting offerings.
